The Story Behind Terence & The Machines
This coffee comes from the legendary Sidama region — the cradle of Arabica coffee. Specifically, it's sourced from the Boreta district and brought to life by the incredible work of Asefa Dukamo and the team at Daye Bensa Coffee Exporters.
Asefa’s journey began by supplying cherries on horseback to distant mills — until he built his own washing stations to support farmers closer to home. Today, his network of washing stations and dry mills empowers smallholder farmers across Sidama, helping them reach global markets while keeping their coffee traditions alive.
Terence & The Machines is the fruit of that work: a naturally processed Ethiopian coffee, produced with minimal intervention, 100% organic in practice (though not certified due to high costs), and brimming with the clean, complex fruit character that Sidama is famous for.
Why Terence & The Machines Stands Out
-
Pure Sidama Vibrancy: High-altitude growing, rich soils, and traditional farming methods deliver an incredibly lively, juicy cup.
-
Natural Processed Excellence: Hand-picked cherries are sorted, sun-dried on raised beds, and carefully rotated every 30 minutes to preserve clarity and avoid over-fermentation.
-
Full Traceability: Thanks to changes in Ethiopia’s export laws, you can trace your coffee straight back to Boreta Wash Station and its farmers.
-
Community Powered: Daye Bensa’s projects build roads, install electricity, and improve farming techniques, helping coffee-growing communities thrive.
In short, Terence & The Machines is exactly why Ethiopia is still the holy grail for specialty coffee lovers.
